My passion for sewing began at a very young age where I started making things for myself, nieces, nephews and friends

Progressing on to excel in textiles technology at school, taking part in work experience which confirmed the career I wanted to follow.

About Kaya

Whilst studying at college, I was keen to boost my technical skills and learn tailoring early to enhance my portfolio for university and was mentored by a local bespoke tailor in Essex.

I later graduated from BA (Hons.) Fashion Atelier at University for the Creative Arts which I was extremely fortunate to learn couture dressmaking, bespoke tailoring and creative pattern cutting from prestigious craftsmen and craftswomen on this course and Alan J Norris retired
Savile Row master tailor. Whilst studying the course, I took part in several internships within bespoke tailoring and couture bridal which provided me with fundamental experience and knowledge. During my studies and after graduation I continued to work for various companies in London within the fashion industry specialising in couture bridal, tailoring, occasional wear, prom and denim works,
restoration.

In 2019 Megh Da Miny Bespoke was born, specialising in bespoke wear (tailoring and dressmaking) for all, and specialist bridal alterations to a couture standard, including complete reconstruction. The name ‘Megh Da Miny’ is a tribute to my late grandmother who originated from India who was also fond of sewing. Due to my background and heritage of both east and west, I utilise the skillset of both British and Asian. The source of inspiration for previous collections was based on the diversity and fusion of
my ethnicity.

I now have experience of over 13 years and have been designing one-off garments for over 11 years. My ambition is to make every client feel their best and love their body exactly as it is-no need to diet! By tailoring each and every garment to you, whether it be a bespoke creation by
myself, from a luxury designer, high street or preloved. Body positivity and self-love is an important matter to me as well as being sustainable, with this in mind, it is important for garments to be tailored to your measurements which ensures the garment to be worn a lifetime and is an invaluable investment to yourself.
